What
to Expect
Once you’ve decided to install
or refinish
a wood floor with Floors in California,
you may wonder what will happen next.
Knowing what to expect before, during,
and after flooring installation takes
place ensures we give you a high-quality
floor every time.
BEFORE
FLOORING INSTALL BEGINS:
Before Floors in California begins working
on your new floor you need to remove all
furnishings, draperies, paintings, and
other items from the room. Because Flooring
professionals typically are not insured
against damages to these items,removal
needs to be your resposibility. Your new
floors are ours. For new hardwood installations,
the wood will need to acclimate, which
will vary from two days to two weeks.
We bring the wood to you so that it can
adjust to its new climate.
REFINISH
OF HARDWOOD FLOORING:
If your floors are being sanded, finished
or refinished by Floors in California,
be prepared for some noise and disruption.
We use dust containment systems that help
minimize debris, but there is not a system
out there that is 100% effective. Because
of this we ask that you cover any items
that you want to keep dust-free. When
the finish is applied, stay off your floors
until it has dried. This is harder than
it sounds! Drying time will varies depending
on the type of finish
selected and the climate.
DRYING TIME
FOR YOUR FLOORS:
Once the finish has dried, Floors in
California recommends that you put felt
pads on the bottoms of any furniture to
minimize scratches and dents in your new
hardwood floor. Place scatter rugs at
all entrances, avoiding those with rubber
backs, which can discolor your floor.
Try to avoid walking on your hardwoods
with certain shoes such as cleats or high
heels with damaged souls.
THE UNIQUENESS OF HARDWOOD FLOORS:
Remember that no two floor boards will
be the smame. Variations in appearance
are completely normal. In fact they are
desired. like us your floor will age and
some change with occur including color
change. This also is normal, but can be
minimized by limiting exposure to direct
sunlight, (also like us!) and moving furniture
and rugs from time to time. High and low
humidity will flex and contract your floors
to some degree. THis is normal and will
make cracks appear and disappear with
the seasons. Generally, anything less
than the width of a dime is considered
normal, and will correct itself as the
seasons rotate. Floors in California inspectors
recommend inspecting the floor from a
standing position in normal lighting to
identify irregularities.
KEEP THEM IN SHAPE:
Lastley, keep your wood floors looking
their best by properly maintaining
them. Use a cleaning product recommended
for your floors and use it regularly to
keep them looking beautiful for years
to come. We hope you will find the same
enjoyment from your newly installed hardwood
floor by Floors in California, as we do!.
